With the recent devastation in Asia, Kevin and Sosho, compelled to help out, bring you the Mind Fluid Tsunami Benefit, with an awesome DJ line up and all proceeds – including bar profits – going directly to the cause. Reading like a who’s who of the UK’s hottest broken beat, nu jazz and future flavoured jocks, a second to none DJ line-up, Mind Fluid Tsunami Benefit sees a meeting of musical exploration rarely witnessed in the same room at the same time: Radio One presenter and institution in his own right Gilles Peterson has been joining the dots between jazz, soul, house and brazilian beats during a long and illustrious DJing career; joined by Orin Walters aka Afronaught, part of the Bugz in The Attic collective and sought after remixer / producer in his own right; next up Mind Fluid’s resident Kev Beadle whos DJ journey took him through the halcyon years of the jazz scene in the UK through to jazz’s rebirth through modern manifestations of nu-jazz, broken beat and soulful house; plus 1Xtra’s Benji B who has been pushing the boundaries of broken beat, hip hop and everything in between on his radio show since its inception and attracts huge amounts of listeners around the globe; Afroart’s Spiritual South leans towards the brazilian/ nu jazz vibe and have produced some highly regarding productions and remixes themselves; finally Dom Servini rounds up the list – the man responsible for the Mouseorgan nights and the wonderful Wah Wah seven inches. Each DJ and contributor to this event is giving their time and skills in kind in the collective effort to make a small contribution to the mammoth task faced by aid workers in Asia.
